Carron Reservoir
Fishing has been superb lately and yet again we have seen some record catches coming off, mainly to traditional wets although some have had success with dry’s when the conditions have been right. The evening sessions are showing some really good rises now and water temp is on the increase.
Lake Menteith
Lake of Menteith Fisheries report 16th July 2007
6ft Water Temp: 17C Secchi Disk Gateside: 2.2m
A week of good catches at the Lake and with over 30% of the fish returned in the Lexus heats - not a set back for future catches. Notable congregations of fish in International Bay, Inch Cuan (Dog Isle), Gateside Bay, Rookery and the Malling shore were reported today. Small flies on a sink tip or dries have been popular. Huge shoals of fry are now evident (pin head and around 3g). There are still some boats left for the early morning shifts on the 21st of July and the 4th of August, the times are 4am to 9am (gates open 3am). Electric engines only (before 8.30am).

ANGLING REPORT FOR WEEK ENDING 06/04/07
With the exception of Thursday, fishing throughout the week was marvellous. Saturday was especially good with an average catch of just under 5.5 trout per rod. The average for the whole week was an impressive 3.5 trout per rod.
From Wednesday onwards fish were regularly seen feeding on the surface and anglers were doing well on black buzzers and nymphs, such as Hare’s Ear, Diawl Bach and Pheasant Tail. Water temperatures were still quite low and fish were often loath to take the fly hard. This resulted in a high proportion of fish being lightly hooked and lost before the net. As with the previous week, anglers who fished their flies slowly were getting the most consistent results.
Boats were still doing best over all in the Bannock Bay and the Lagoons but those willing to venture further afield were also starting to be rewarded by fish. Bank anglers were doing well all along the west shore line with the Mound and the Lagoons probably being the most popular.
The fishery is continuing with its discount days for over 60’s or unemployed anglers. Due to popular demand, this discount is now running from Monday to Friday, inclusive. On these days the cost of a permit is still only £13 per person for boat or bank, if they are eligible. The permit covers day, evening or combined sessions but not outboard hire. However, please remember that proof of status is needed on the day.

Fishing Report – 08.07.07-14.07.07
Another mixed week with the overcast calm mornings and bright breezy afternoons meaning conditions were very changeable. Plenty of sport was to be had on or near the surface with dry or wet flies including Muddlers, Daddies and Hoppers, with fish also taking Buzzers and a few nymphs. During the bright spells the area near the lilies behind the islands was quite productive as the fish were hiding in the shade. At other times fish were taking all round the pond with the Browns often to be found in the area near the mouth of the burn. A good number of Rainbows, Blues and Browns in the 4lb 8oz to 7lb range were taken this week with more reports of bigger fish seen or lost.
